You may have taken AP or honors courses in the past, but high school is very different from college. In college, it's your responsibility to stay on top of homework and assignments. You are responsible for your learning and need to reach out if you need help.

Course Syllabus

Each class will have a syllabus that lists the course objectives, course schedule, late policy, grading policy, assignments, and more. The syllabus is your guide to the class. Not all faculty accept late work so you need to know what the policies are for each class you take. The syllabus will also list contact information for your professor, where to find them, and the classroom for your class.

Office/Student Hours

Each faculty must list the times that they are available to answer student questions. During this time, faculty are in their office (or logging on remotely) just waiting for students to come and talk with them. Office/student hours are the time for you to get help with course content you didn't understand, ask questions about assignments, and get to know your faculty.

One thing to note is that faculty don't stay in the same classroom everyday. They do all have an office location. Their office location is on the syllabus and that's where you can find them.

Study Time

For each class you take, you should be spending 2-3 hours outside of class doing homework and studying. That's 6 to 8 hours per class. If you're taking 12 credits, that's a full time job. Utilize your time on campus in between classes doing your work. Visit the Library, Academic Center, or find your own favorite spot on campus to do work.
